Spotlight from Lamplighter Newsletter Volume 4 Issue 4 August-September 2012
Barbara has been a member of Empowering Today’s Professionals (ETP) since 2008. She served as the Director of Volunteer Services from 2010 to 2011. Barbara credits managing her career as the CEO of her own business to ETP and learning key principles of career management from both Rod Colon and Carl E. Reid.
It was during her tenure in her role at Volunteer Services that Barbara developed a passion for volunteer work. She put this passion into action when she co-founded the James Volpe Foundation, a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed shortly after her 17 year old nephew and godson, James Volpe was killed tragically as a passenger in an automobile accident in May 2011.
As CEO of the foundation, Barbara leads a volunteer committee of 20+ members and major fundraising activities to raise money. Funds raised by the foundation are re-directed to young members of the community to help them reach their highest potential in education and sports. The foundation also extends financial support to bereaved families. You can learn more about Barbara’s work and the James Volpe Foundation at: www.jamesvolpefoundation.org.
Barbara also has over 20 years experience in the direct marketing industry, and is currently the Director of Client Services for the Relation-ship Marketing Factory. In that role, she is responsible for the strategic design and deploy-ment of marketing programs for a variety of clients in various industry sectors. She enjoys working with clients to develop solutions and programs to help their business grow in this difficult economy.
Barbara’s strong entrepreneurial skills have also helped her build a successful part time network marketing business with Arbonne International, a 32-year old health and wellness company. In her business, she teaches people how to save money on everyday expenses with personal care products and trains those who want to earn money on how to develop a secondary source of income.
Barbara credits the ETP philosophy of developing multiple streams of income to starting this business 4 years ago. A Plan B in a tough economy and job market is a critical career move on her part. To learn more about her business, you can visit her website at www.barbalexander.myarbonne.com
In her spare time, Barbara enjoys spending time with her husband David and 9 year old twin boys, Sean and Christopher in their residence at Freehold, New Jersey. During the summer time, they enjoy taking day trips on weekends and spending time with extended family in the area.
